Osman Awudu is a product of the University of Ghana, having graduated in the year 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. After one year National Service as an Economics Tutor at Business Secondary School Tamale, he joined the erstwhile Customs and Excise Department as an Assistant Inspector. He rose through the ranks to become an ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER at the time of his retirement (SECTOR COMMANDER OF TEMA PORT).
He has an extensive experience in Tax Administration both locally and internationally. He acted as Assistant Manager for Valuation and Classification department GSL (Gateway Services Limited) a Destination Inspection Company (2000-2003). Customs representative on Joint Management Committee of the ECOWAS – UEMOA (CET) Common External Tariff, Harmonized System Committee –WCO Brussels Representative (2006-2012) Ghana. Member of the ADHOC committee on ECOWAS CET Nomenclature April (2010). Served on various committee such as GRA modernization programs, Tax Policy Unit (Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and many more.
Had wide range of courses both local and external. Since retiring he has been engaged as a Resource Person on contract bases by ECOWAS Customs department and undertook the following assignments. Field assessment of the implementation of the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET) in all the five Anglophone member state of ECOWAS (2015). Mission to assess the Implementation of ECOWAS Trade Liberation Scheme (ETLS) and ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET) in the five Anglophone member states (2016) GIZ Sponsored.
